ADVANCED COMMERCIAL MEDIATION TRAINING

The next Advanced Commercial Mediation Training will take place online

from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM EST

on May 2, 3, 8, and 10, 2024.  

This Part 146 approved 16-hour course will cover special considerations for mediating commercial disputes. 

Registration is limited to 8 people.  

CLE and scholarships are not available for this training.

This training is approved under Part 146 by the New York State Unified Court System’s Office of ADR Program and satisfies Part 146 requirements. Please note:

o 24 hours of Initial Mediation Training is a prerequisite to taking a 16-Hour Additional Case-Type Specific Skills Training for the purpose of applying to serve on a court roster.

o Final placement on any court roster is at the discretion of the local Administrative Judge, and participation in a course does not guarantee placement on a local court roster.

o Some courts may require additional training and experience beyond Part 146’s requirements.

o Acceptance on court rosters may depend on a court’s need for mediators at any given time and may include a particular court’s need for mediators with specific case-type training or experience.

This Advanced Commercial Mediation Training begins with an exploration of the special considerations for mediators engaged in commercial dispute resolution.  The training includes an in-depth analysis of the impact that commercial matters have on the way a mediator prepares for and facilitates negotiations.  Participants will engage in several mediation simulation exercises, group discussions and exercises to build an appreciation for the nuance of mediating commercial disputes.

Training Schedule

Classes meet from 9:00 - 1:00 EST each dayon Zoom.

May 2

Review nature of commercial mediation, mediator appointment processes, pre-mediation communications, online mediation.

May 8

Review impasse strategies.  Participate in mediation simulation.

May 3

Review positional negotiation in commercial cases, role of emotion, moving to principled negotiation.  Mediation demonstration.

May 10

Review mediation closure options.  Participate in mediation simulation.

Tuition & Policies

Tuition

$538.13 ($525.00 tuition +$13.13 service fee).  Financial aid is not available for this course.

Part 146 Certificates

You must attend the entire course in order to receive certification that you have completed the 16-hour basic mediation training, as pursuant to the Part 146 requirements issued by the New York State Unified Court System’s Office of ADR Programs.

 

Certificates will be distributed to participants within 30 days of the conclusion of the course. You are responsible for keeping a copy of the certificate for your own records.

Cancellations & Refunds

All cancellations will be subject to a $100 administrative fee. The administrative fee will be deducted directly from the refund.

 

Refunds will not be granted after April 22, 2024.

 

Cancellations must be submitted in writing and emailed to billing@gleasonadr.com.
